As we enter into the first quarter of 2015, we pause to reflect growth and expansion for Spartanburg County during 2014. Our agents recently attended the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce Economic Forecast Breakfast held at the University of South Carolina Upstate. The Spartanburg County economy soared during 2014! Brian Nash, director of business development for the Economic Features Group, said 2014 was a record year for economic development in Spartanburg County. Fourteen projects came to fruition representing nearly $2,400,000,000 in new investment and 2,114 jobs. The list includes BMW’s expansion, Toray Industries Inc. New Carbon Fiber Plant, Bass Pro Shops, Michelin, Trelleborg, Mohawk Industries, F3 Engineering, Sealed Air, Bosch Security Systems, Eberstaecher, and others. During last year, over 109 prospective projects were in the pipeline. Of the 109 projects, 86% were companies looking at Spartanburg County for the first time and the rest were existing companies seeking expansion! Since 2010, Spartanburg County had landed 95 projects amounting to $3,870,000,000 in capital investment and almost 7,000 new jobs. That averages out to $14,900,000 per week and 26 jobs!
We are blessed to live in such a strong dynamic market. We have the amenities especially with the new Inland Port, two major interstates intersecting in our county, a labor force ready to work, and leadership with a can-do attitude on making it happen.
